Creative Learning

Our mission is to provide unique learning experiences for all, widening access to the Arts, enriching lives and bringing communities together.

We aim to achieve this by providing inspiring experiences for all, and through creative learning activities, to develop essential life skills such as building confidence, resilience and improving overall wellbeing.

We also strive to educate and empower the next generation of performers, creators and arts enthusiasts so that our industry can flourish. This is the lasting legacy we strive to create.

We’re proud of our commitment to the communities we serve and, alongside our programme of professional events, each of our venues has a dedicated in-house Creative Learning function as standard.

Our Creative Learning practitioners are experts in their field and are proactive in developing and delivering a programme of work, year-round, which is designed to engage and enthuse local people of all ages. Projects undertaken vary from venue to venue – our bespoke approach follows local priorities and initiatives, with the aim of engaging as wide a spectrum of participants as possible.

In 2023 our work across theatres has touched the lives of over 50,000 people, with over 31,000 customers coming to our theatres to see the shows in 14 regions. And we have many plans to grow.

Youth Programmes

Our Youth Theatre programmes are all about engaging young aspiring creatives and nurturing their talents. We offer a variety of classes, workshops and projects where participants have the opportunity to work with industry professionals, develop their skills and build confidence.

Outreach

We collaborate with local schools, colleges and universities to conduct interactive workshops and masterclasses. We introduce students to the world of performing arts to inspire creativity, encourage self-expression and develop communication skills.

Community Partnerships

We foster strong partnerships with local community organisations, ensuring that theatre is accessible to all. We offer subsidised tickets, exclusive workshops and behind-the-scenes experiences. These partnerships enrich the lives of our participants and help to diversify the audiences attending our venues.

Professional Development

We advocate the importance of lifelong learning for all ages and stages.

Experienced practitioners share their expertise allowing participants to enhance their skills and stay up to date with sessions from all aspects of the industry including directing, stage management, lighting design and producing.

Older Communities

There was a real need in all our communities for more programmes and groups for adults in later life, so we have collaborated with care homes and local authorities to run these projects. The aims were to provide support, community and creativity to these groups
